Stranded During Mardi Gras? Here's What To Do

Mardi Gras turns large parts of New Orleans into pedestrian-only zones — which is great for parade-goers but can be a nightmare if your car breaks down. Here's how to get help during Carnival season.

Mardi Gras Changes Everything

During Mardi Gras season, large parts of New Orleans become pedestrian-only zones for parade routes. Streets that are normally open get blocked off hours before parades roll, and traffic gets pushed onto detour routes that may also be congested.

If You Break Down During a Parade

The most important thing to know: tow trucks may have a harder time reaching you in the middle of a parade route. We can still get to you, but it may take longer than the usual 20–30 minute ETA. Call (504) 884-7883 and let us know your exact location — including which parade route you're near. We'll figure out the best approach.

Plan Ahead During Carnival Season

If you'll be driving during Mardi Gras:

If Your Car Gets Towed

Cars parked along parade routes get towed by the city, not by us. If your car has been towed by NOPD/city services, you'll need to retrieve it from the city auto pound. We don't have access to those tow yards.

After-Parade Emergency Service

Once parades clear out, we can usually get back to standard response times. But if you're dealing with a breakdown during the actual parade, expect some delays — and call us right away so we can start working on the best route to your location.
